10 SGV Teams in the First 2018 State Rankings

It’s hard to have perspective on track and cross country in California. We are the biggest state, and the CIF Southern Section is bigger than all but three states itself. Just the San Gabriel Valley has more people than 14 states.

CIF Rankings – Week 5: Holding (Mostly) Steady

There were a few small moves in this week’s CIF-SS ranking, with the only move in or out being California dropping from the Div. 1 rankings after a bit of a rough day at last week’s Del Rio League meet.

CIF Rankings – Week 4: Bonita Moves In

The SGV #7 Bonita boys moved into the CIF SS rankings for the first time this year – entering Div. 3 in the 10th spot. The Bearcats have been solid all year – their most recent achievement was a narrow third place finish Saturday in the very tough Palomares League preview meet.

SGV Boys Rankings – Week 3: Claremont Extends Their Lead

CIF-SS Rankings – Week 3: Cal Boys & Walnut Girls – Case Made

The California boys (8th D1) and Walnut girls (7th D1) rode strong performances in the Woodbridge Invitational Sweepstakes races to jump into the CIF Rankings this week.  Claremont (boys & girls) and the Flintridge Prep boys remain top ranked in their divisions.

Sixteen San Gabriel Valley teams rank in the Top Ten of the CIF-SS five divisions. Unlike other sports that try to group schools by “competitive equity” cross country’s divisions are solely by enrollment.
