Warren/Stauffer: Conq’s and Bearcats Strong Again

The Los Altos boys and Bonita girls, winners of the first Hacienda League cluster meet, were the top SGV teams entered in the Warren/Stauffer Invite at Holydale Park in South Gate.  This flat, 3-mile course has few turns and fast surfaces, so it’s super fast, and the Conq’s and Bearcats certainly proved that to be true.

Villagomez, Raya & Juarez

Los Altos’ seniors Bobby Villagomez (15:29) and Jair Juarez (15:31) had a great day, finishing 4th and 5th overall, foll0wed by Montebello senior Justin Raya, who had a big day to finish 6th overall at 15:32.  The SGV trio were 1-2-3 in the Senior race at this meet where the athletes competed by grade.   Bonita’s Dillon Nobbs was 2nd in the Soph race and 8th overall at 15:43.  The day’s other notable mark (sub 16:00) came from Mark Huizar (Los Altos) 5th in the Juniors race in 15:57.

The girls race was another showdown between juniors Marissa Scott (Bonita) and Taylor Jones (La Mirada), with Marissa taking the edge with a 3rd overall, 18:03 finish to Taylor’s 6th/18:39.  The Bearcats were well represented in the younger grades with Kailin Scott (19:13) and Diana Garcia (19:06) taking the frosh and soph races.

Bell Gardens, Cantwell-SHM, St. Paul, Schurr and South El Monte also competed in this meet.  Complete Results and links to a photo gallery are here.
