Mt.SAC & Small School Action Headline Week 8

262065_fullThe massive Mt. SAC Relays headline week 8.  The SGV well be well represented tonight and tomorrow.  Jorge Zapien (California, Sr) will be looking to improve on his SGV leading 15-02 pole vault while Arcadia junior Phillip Rocha will follow up his great 8:59.42 3200m with his season debut in the Mile.

Sydney Mosley (Monrovia, SR) will lead SGV girls in the 100m Hurdles and relays, while Bishop Amat’s distance crew and Walnut juniors Kayla & Kyla Richardson should also feature prominently.

Five SGV schools will travel to Carpinteria for the Russell Cup – a great small school meet.  You can view entries here.

SGV teams will also be at the Ocean View Small Schools Invitational (live results might be here) while St. Paul will be hosting the Girl’s Night Out meet.

Ten area athletes will compete in the invitational 1,600- and 3,200-meter races. Bishop Amat sophomore Ally Palomino and Jessica Gallardo, Arcadia’s Phillip Rocha, Walnut’s Millen Trujillo and Baldwin Park’s Adolfo Velasquez will all take part in the Brooks Mile races. Palomino and Trujillo are also in the 3,200.

The Lancers also have Emily Hubert in the 3,200, and two boys, Robbie Santoyo and Adrian Diaz, in the 3,200. The Lancers also have a boys and girls team in each 4×400 relay.

Arcadia’s girls 4×400 relay team, which set a school record last week at Arcadia, will compete. Baldwin Park sends Adolfo Velasquez into the 1,600 and Salvador Capetillo into the 3,200, Bonita has Kelsey Creese in the 3,200 and Walnut’s Millen Trujillo is in the 3,200. The Covina boys mile relay team will race. Palomino and Gallardo will triple up and Hubert will double when the Lancers compete in the 4xMile relay

Saturday, Damien sophomore Zachary Shinnick will attempt to double up in the 100 and 200. He is joined by teammate Thaddeus Smith in the 200. Walnut’s Kayla Richardson, who did not take part at Arcadia, will be in the 200 and 400. Amat’s Gallardo is in the 800, St. Francis’ Ross Niederhaus in the 400, Monrovia’s Sydney Mosley, St. Francis’ Jasher Foster, Walnut’s Alan Tantiwassadakran and Bonita’s Caleb Stanton are all in hurdles races. Monrovia’s Octavious Spencer and Micah Fulton, Bonita’s B.J. McLaurin and Damien’s Andrew Agyemang are all in jumping events. California’s Jorge Zapien is in the pole vault and Arcadia will also compete in the girls 4×100 relay.
