The Prep League Finals were hosted on Friday, May 1 at Redondo Union HS by Chadwick, and it turned out to be one the strongest league meets in recent years.
The top performance came from Flintridge Prep senior Barrett Weiss. After a relatively limited 2015, Weiss broke his own league and school records with a 15-06 jump.  This puts him into the San Gabriel Valley seasonal lead and makes him #11= All-Time SGV.  His brother Gareth was 2nd at 14-6, a seasonal best that puts him #3 SGV-15.
The high jump was nearly as strong, seniors Stirling McCulloch (Webb) and Vince Porter (Poly) both leaped 6-06.  McCulloch, whose previous best was 6-04, prevailed on the countback is now #2 SGV-15.  Porter added two more wins in the 100 & 200 and his is 11.14 100 ranks #9 SGV-15.
Flintridge junior Jack Van Scoter was the other double winner. After an illness limited season, he is rounding into shape and took easy wins in the 1600 & 3200.
And in the final notable boys performance, Poly junior Tim Krasnoperov tossed a big 144-04 PR to win the discus and ranks #3 SGV on the season.
There were three double winners among the girls.  Samantha Khalsa (So, Westridge) took both hurdle races, and the 800 & 1600 were won by Mayfield junior Emily Serhan.
But the strongest double came from Hannah Barakat (So, Flintridge) in the 200 & 400.  Her 25.71 in the half-lap puts her #5 SGV-15.  She just edged out 100 winner Ryan Casey (Jr, Poly).  Her 12.55/25.77 double ranks her 7th & 8th on the 2015 SGV list.
All of the Prep League schools are in the CIF-SS Div. IV and so they will next compete at the Div. IV Prelims at Carpinteria HS on Saturday, May 15.
