Here’s meet coverage from Baldwin Park Coach Cobe Guzman.
The Baldwin Park boys and girls ran well, and came through with good team racing. The boys coming off the great Woodbridge meet showed no hangover and performed well. Running without 4 key varsity runners, including Salvador Capetillo returning from a recruting trip from Colorado. The young harriers and few seniors stepped up and held form, easily handling the first of 3 cluster meets. Baldwin Park was led by an improving Adolfo Velazquez, who is making a return to elite form after an injury riddled junior year. The winner of the meet was senior Cesar Bermudez from Sierra Vista HS, who is focused on a long post-season. Overall the boys ran well and handled the hilly Schabarum Park course.On the ladies front, the Baldwin Park girls are continuing there rise and seek to perform better than last years group. Still a young team, they were led by sophomore Dyanne Contreras. They look forward to racing better and better week to week and make another run at a team title. The girls league meet winner was senior Maria Hernandez from Sierra Vista HS, who is eager to continue being the top girl in the Montview League.
