The SGV’s league for its smallest schools has several of the area’s strongest teams. Flintridge Prep boys and girls ranked #1 in CIF Div. V, while Mayfield is #1 in the girls CIF Div. IV, and all three teams are in the Top 5 of the all-division rankings for the San Gabriel Valley.
Racing on the hilly 3-mile course at Crescenta Valley Park, which runs close to Mt.SAC time-wise, Flintridge Prep were the winners of both events.
The Boys, running within themselves, dropped a perfect 15 while  taking the first seven spots.  SGV seasonal #1 Jack Van Scoter led with a 16:29 performance.  Michael Yen, 8th at 18:11, was the best for runner up Polytechnic.
The Girls race was a showdown that didn’t happen. Both of the top teams ran controlled efforts, but Mayfield was especially restrained, clearly looking to Saturday and the remaining two Prep League meet. The Cubs first 6 finished within a second of each other, and this tipped the balance to Flintridge Prep 40-45.  Both teams will race for reels on Saturday at Stanford.
Tops for Prep was frosh Sasha Codiga 3rd/20:23 while Mayfield was led by Marissa Sanchez 7th/21:15.  Tops in race were Vivian Wheeler 1st/20:22 and Sophie Schleifer 2nd/20:23 for third placed Polytechnic.  4th-placed Westridge was paced by Emma Linde 5th/20:43.
