MIramonte #1: Bassett Runs to the Front

The Miramonte kicked off their league competition on a hot Thursday at the very hilly and tough course at Schabarum Park in Rowland Heights.

Bassett took top honors on both sides.  The boys had 36 points to edge out La Puente’s 48.  The Olympians Manuel Fernandez (16:37) and Dino Ramirez (16:50) led the field.  Jose Perez was next at 17:01 to lead the runners up and Luis Godinez was 4th/17:08 to lead third-placed Edgewood.

The Bassett girls, led by Jennifer Berrios (4th/20:57) had a slightly bigger margin, 30-58 over Garey, who were paced by Rosealba Herrera (6th/22:32).  The overall winner at 20:57 was Laura Diaz, who lead Edgewood to a third place finish, and she was followed across the line by Karen Herrera of La Puente in 21:27.
