The Glendora boys (and one girl), South Hills, and Bishop Amat traveled to San Diego’s to race on the national championship course at Morley Field. This meet featured San Diego’s top teams, along with several strong teams from the Southern Section and Arizona. The guys raced on a hilly 2.95 mile course, while the girls course was 2.75 miles – taking out the biggest hill. The weather was quite hot in the afternoon when the larger schools competed
The Glendora boys, fresh off of their win at the Cal Poly Bronco Invite last week, placed 5th in the team competition. They were led by junior Anthony Castro, who was 16th overall in 16:07 and senior Austin Goodheart, 22nd overall at 16:14. South Hills featured a strong, breakthrough performance by Johnny Flores. The junior’s 16:29 placed him 37th overall, and 11th in the smaller schools division
The girls featured strong individual performances from Glendora junior Lauren Justus, who ran 16:24 for 2.75 rolling miles and was 18th overall, and Vianca Holguin (JR- South Hills) who ran 17:35. Vianca and her teammates were 19th in the small school division, which placed them in the top half of the field.
